They’re So Lover-ley!

Who remembers these cheeky chappies!? In a 10th year anniversary release, we got to work with Universal to introduce 10 new tracks from the band, while releasing 10 of their greatest hits on the album. Above is a storyboard sequence I created for the animation. It turns out the name “Scouting for Girls” is a play on the title of the 1908 scouting handbook “Scouting for Boys”. So here I took inspiration both from the cover, and from the old, illustrative camping scenes of the Scouting guides. I also worked with a lot of shadowing and layers to give the impression of a pop-up book, or a vintage “paper theatre”, to allow for further depth and movement when the storyboard would be transferred to the animation stage.
